Teams TD II v4 edit discussion

After consultation with TD II v4 players, we decided to propose the following edits in order to make more balance between civilizations and to restore some options from v3.

1. civilization bonuses
these civs are really bad, I'm going to write down why.

- Aztecs:-
Guard towers cannot be upgraded to keep
Bombard towers are not available
Ring archer armor is not available (important for chu ko nu)
In spite of eagle warrior extra AP, it is not effective against strong defensive civs (unlike mayans eagle which has +40 hp)
suggested edit: starting in castle age

- Huns:-
This civ (along with goths) are the only civs with watch tower that can't be upgraded to guard tower or keep.
as a compensation goths got 3rd gold miner, which is really strong bonus. while huns got free fletching (50 gold) and tarkan discount (750 instead of 1250)
I believe that free fletching bonus is worthless, and tarkan bonus is insufficient because the original price of tarkan is already exaggerated (1250 gold for non ranged unit! why?) so 750 gold is still too expensive, in other words, tarkan can't be bought without support of allies rush, otherwise you will wait 16 minutes to purchase it.
other disadvantages of huns include:
no ring archer armor (weak chu ko nu)
no plate mail armor (weak Charles Martel)
suggested edit: cheaper tarkan (550 gold +elite)
this would make huns better rushing civ

- Persians:
Although the elephant discount is good, it would be better to add 1 more bonus as upgrading to keep is unavailable.
suggested edit: auto 125 stone per minute or 200 gold scout (like Byzantines)

2. The store
- Some good options were blocked in v4 like El Cid (good shielding unit) and Harald, so its better to unblock them with reconsideration to their prices.

- Some bad options are still in the store, its better to replace them or reconsider their price:
Subotai, War wagon, Huskarl.

- Ram price should be raised (at least in 2v2, 3v3)
This is critical to remove the enormous unbalance in case of goths presence.

+1 --- ram prize should be always 4000 gold

aztecs no changes cause soldier units +5 ap (martel, harold). good martl civ.

huns free castle age and all free blacksmith tecs incl. castle age. so they are able to build faster towers and will be good option as a rusher civ.

persia auto stone 125 per min ---- +1

yeah Aztecs have +5 ap for mele
but don't forget it doesn't work against pyramid
as the pyramid has 100\100 armor
so 13 AP is the same as 13+5 AP vs pyramid

i am not sure if this is true. 40 martels with +5ap have total 200ap more than a normal deveolped martel.

you dont attack a wonder with a single unit so as i remember it is a advantage for aztecs.

the armor deals with every unit separately
if you have 40 martels (1 group) and you attack pyramid, every hit will do -40 damage
you can try it

Lol. It is not about being allowed to make the changes, it is about whether the players themselves approve your edits or not.

It is a nice old map granted but trying to find the perfect balance of all Civs is an eternal problem for all Multiplayer scenarios, isn't it?

IMHO the best solution is simply to ALWAYS play Team Games using TEAM RANDOM!

But then, there's no harm in tinkering with it - if it makes people play it more :)

-550 is too cheap for tarkans I think....such a powerful unit. (My suggestion would be to give them cheap subotai, maybe at 1450)
-Persians getting auto 125 a minute is a great addition and all they really need imo.
-I don't see aztecs being as weak as you say they are but I think giving them the second infantry armor/second archer armor for free is probably a good balance tweak
-I also don't think rams are too cheap in 2v2/3v3 (3k is a lot of gold and balances out a full teuton defence)
